Comments: Hull was modified in 2001 to increase speed. The Prime Time Story Prime Time is a "one-off," highly customized yacht, designed by the world famous naval architect Edwin Monk. The molds were produced by LAN Tooling in Seattle , suppliers to the Nordlund Yacht Company, who also manufactured and supplied the highly successful Monk designed hull. The interior architecture was designed by the West Coasts' foremost Designer, Jon Pokela.. The assembly and unique joiner work was the product of the McQueen Boat Works of Vancouver, British Columbia. Prime Time is powered by two 1100 horsepower, electronically-controlled, MAN diesel engines which provide a maximum speed of 20.1 knots, with an additional ¾ knot available through the modification/addition of ¾" to 1"pitch to the Teignbridge 5 blade, 42" pitch, propellers. The Engine Room and Lazaretto are unusually roomy, 7 Feet of head room and plenty of storage. The Engine Room access is made through the Sun Deck (aft deck) and an emergency exit on the transom with a water tight door. The Engine Room contains not often found features such as Air Conditioning and an electric hydraulic system pump that operates all hydraulics without running the engines. The Yacht also has select watertight bilges throughout. Electrical service is provided by two 32kw Kohler generators. AC power switching is controlled by a sophisticated push button panel in the engine room, designed and built by Electro Systems. There is an identical remote panel in the laundry. In addition, there is an installed Isoboost 100 automatic voltage correcting shore power isolation transformer to improve and enhance shore power reliability. The fuel tanks hold 3100 gallons of diesel in two wing tanks and one center tank, and provide 800 nm range at cruise speed. Long range cruising at 12 knots extends the range to more than 1200 NM. The yacht is completely climate controlled with heating and air conditioning throughout. All propulsion and electrical functions are displayed visually on a custom designed computerized Checkmate Monitor and Control System in the pilothouse and flybridge. The engine controls are single lever, "fly by wire,” manufactured by Mathers Marine. The power steering system is manufactured by Jastram. Other unusual features include: A Murphy Bed which fits into the wall on the lower level and allows for crew expansion to three, if needed. The bow thruster is a Wesmar 50 hp hydraulic, operated by a power takeoff from the main engines. The anchor windlass is a Maxwell hydraulic, and is controlled by an Anchor Count rode counter and windlass control system. At its mid-2000 launch, Prime Time was considered one of the more technologically advanced yachts manufactured. There are two independent Furuno radar units with four screens (two in color). The color unit is capable of overlay on the Furuno electronic navigation plotter. There is an Elbex video system to monitor the engine room and aft deck areas from monitors located in the pilothouse and flybridge. In addition, there are two independent WAAS GPS units, a Interphase TwinScope forward-scan sonar system, C-Phone interior/exterior communications system, a KVH TracPhone satellite communications system, and a KVH Tracvision 3 digital audio/visual satellite system. The flybridge comfortably accommodates 12–15 people under an integrated hard top cover, and features a center-mounted Gaggenau electric barbeque and wet bar. A 15' tender with a 50 horsepower engine is located aft of the seating area, and 13' davit permits launching of the tender from the stern or starboard side. The flybridge controls are a complete duplication of the controls that are in the wheel house, and are housed behind a unique weather-proof roll top cover. There are three main cabins plus crews berthing. Each cabin can accommodate two persons, and the crews berthing can accommodate three. In addition, there is a Murphy bed that can accommodate an additional person or crew member. All cabins have adjoining bathroom and shower. The Prime Time's galley is a country kitchen configuration, seating six comfortably, and has a complete array of Gaggenau and Kitchen Aid appliances. The salon and dining room area features a large, comfortable seating area with a “U” shaped sofa and chairs, wet bar and icemaker, and an oval glass dinning table that seats six to eight. All counter tops are grey Spanish Granite, highlighted by quartz, and “fools gold.” The salon and dining room area has a day head, one of six heads aboard the yacht. In delivering the uniqueness of Prime Time, 81,000 man (labor) hours were required to launch the yacht.
